Super – 8 films transferred onto video
These Old Frames explores the structure and creation of a narrative using found footage. The material is from Tahireh’s grandfather’s archive of Super-8 films, shot by him over fifty years ago.
The film mimics the fragmented and random construction and recall of memory in our own imaginations, and its relation with its physical or indexical origins.
Tahireh Lal is an Indian artist and her practice is primarily self-reflexive. Her work deals with ideas of movement and stasis that stem from her mobile existence.
She received her Master’s in Fine Arts from the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD), University in Toronto, Canada. The OCAD University India Scholarship funded her graduate work.
